A quick note to apologise for the lack of content on here. With a recent move and new job I'm finding it hard to find the time to post, plus, I have no internet connection at home. I will be getting it back soon, if not for this site then for my need to Xbox 360. In the meantime please enjoy one of the greatest moments of modern TV.

john-lennonWell, I removed the 'Who is better, Lennon or McCartney' poll earlier this week. Thank you everyone who took the time to cast their vote, I got a better response than I had hoped for. A quick analysis follows.

The Ballad of John, Yoko and a confused and angry church burner

churchburnerToday I became embroiled in a Skype discussion with an ill-informed gothic church burner with some Beatles issues. I’d like to confirm that I am aware this particular person gets his jollies from instigating and fuelling these kinds of discussions and I have wasted my lunch trying to get him to back his arguments up.

But they're so basic, here’s a select few:

  • ‘John said that the Beatles were a shit band’
  • ‘Macca has basically spent the rest of his career riding on the coat tails of John and flogging the rotting carcass that was the Beatles’
  • www.ihatepaulmccartney.com
  • 'If he were alive he would hate Oasis.'

While I found it hard to understand his rabid, confused, black nail varnish soaked, animal like points, there were a few moments of clarity, one being his insistence at taking an online poll of the topic: Who’s the best, Lennon or McCartney?

Now I don’t think it’s as simple as this, in my eyes they are both great in different ways. For that purpose I have added 'both' alternatives to the poll. Please, if you have read this far would you mind casting a quick vote. I have no idea why I have done this as I do not even officially recognise his argument; I think it’s just for the safety of any local places of worship. I wouldn’t want them destroyed by a Beatles hating, gothic churchburner with Michael J Fox style high tops on.

Anyone interested can find the Skype chat HERE.

Cat Found!

maxwell-foundI mentioned recently on a variety of platforms that my cat, Maxwell, had gone missing. Although not work related I wanted to post something as I am very pleased to say that, with some help, we have managed to track the little fecker down.

It wouldn't have been possible without the help of the Missing Pets Register, a site run by a team of people dedicated to reuniting lost animals and there owners. They do such a great job that their is a very active community of people on there, all sharing whatever information they can to help re-unite missing animals and their owners (maybe this is more work related than I thought?).

otto_helpersI haven’t written this post as way of informing people of the death of Miep Gies, more as a way of remembering my own trip to Ann Frank’s house. I was very saddened by the news of Miep Gies's death this morning. Coupled with the loss of WW1 veteran Harry Patch last year, there are very few people left that remember such extraordinary (and dark) times. We should take the opportunity to learn all we can from people like Harry Patch and Miep Gies.

With the above in mind, I was pleased when last year I found myself taking my 13 year old sister to Blockbusters; she was desperate to get her hands on a copy of ‘The Diary of Ann Frank’.

I feel I couldn’t do the lady any justice so I am not going to write anything more. I only want to say that if you do not know the story of Ann Frank, you really should. Visit her home in Amsterdam – you cannot help but be moved, especially when you see the original wallpaper and Otto Frank’s pencil markings, tracking the girl’s growth during their time there. It’s our duty to ensure nothing like that ever happens again!
