It began in the mid 90s in a loft in Coventry...

Back then myself and my partner in crime had a keen desire to play serial link Doom. This grew into a desire to play serial link Quake, then LAN Quake 2, then Half-Life... you get the picture.

In order to achieve these goals, we'd need access to the software vendors’ patches. How could we play Quake 2 without the viewable weapons patch or Father Frags Best?

Neither of us had an internet connection back then but we did have access to Henley College’s network at the weekend. Our time was limited so we'd go in with a shopping list of updates and a ton of zip disks.

All I remember was the frustration of knowing that the update I needed was buried somewhere in these 90s era, table-based websites. When I began writing my own HTML for A-Level Computing, I made sure my audience could find what they were after.

Because of those early years, I now have a keen focus on Semantics, Content Strategy, iA, Progressive Enhancement and many other techniques and technologies to create great experiences.
